Lightweight Concrete...Don't Do It!
« on: October 12, 2007, 03:33:26 PM »

Some of you may have seen a lightweight alternative to our Premium Stepping Stone Mix out there in stores.  Please consider carefully before choosing this option!  Lightweight stepping stone mix is lightweight becuase it contains fillers - often plaster or gypsum.  The filler material makes this type of concrete many, many times weaker than our mix.  Stepping stones made with lightweight concrete will not weather the cold, or hold weight nearly as well as our Premium mix, which is as strong, or stronger, than the same concrete that holds up skysccraftyrs!

One of the reasons we love stepping stones so much is that we know the memories we cast in stone will still be in our yards or gardens 20 years later.  Why risk creating a stepping stone out of a weaker material that might deteriorate long before then?

Rest crafty!ured that Milestones has taken a look at the lightweight concrete alternatives out there and chosen not to use it in our kits.  If we ever do find a lightweight mix worthy of your memories, we'll let you know!

Thanks - Arthur

Perhaps a more concrete example is required?
